GCSD Communicates Electronically

Is your parent/guardian information up-to-date? Login into the Alma Parent Portal to update contact telephone numbers and email addresses.

Facebook, Twitter, Email, and the Alma Student and Parent Portals provide parents and students with information about “GCSD.” Class schedules, grade book, academic progress, quarter and semester grades, food service account balances, and outstanding fees are readily accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Contact Catrina, Joni, or Gretchen for assistance accessing the Alma Parent Portal.

Student Tardy/Absence/Message Reminder

As a reminder GCSD asks that a parent/guardian call to notify the school of a student’s absence or late arrival. Also, we ask that you notify the school if you will be picking up your student early. We will do our best to accommodate changes and notify the student. Please call the school by 3 p.m. as after this time we can not guarantee that we will be able to get the message to the student and appropriate staff.

Students who request to go home due to not feeling well, will still need to check out of school with Connie in the Health Office. The Health Office needs to track illness to ensure we are following Public Health guidelines.

Immunization Non-Medical Exemption for 2020-2021

If you choose not to have your student vaccinated according to the current ACIP schedule for personal belief or religious reasons, you must submit a non-medical exemption to your child’s school at the entry of each school year.  Please submit a non-medical exemption record to the Health Office on November 1, 2020. Multiple options are available at: www.colorado.gov/vaccineexemption.

Vision and Hearing Screenings

Elementary Vision and Hearing Screenings will be performed in the Health Office for our in-person learners during the next two weeks.  According to recommendations from the Colorado Department of Education, screenings will be performed on all new students and also school grades PK, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. If your child wears glasses or contacts PLEASE make sure that they wear them for this screening.  Parents/guardians will be notified via email of findings outside of the normal range.

Board of Education Passes Resolution

The Board of Education urges all registered voters of the Gilpin County School District RE-1 to vote “YES” on BALLOT ISSUE 4A. Click the link for the full resolution.

Snowdodgers Cancelled for 20-21 Season

After much deliberation, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Snowdodgers for the 20/21 season.  In addition to the obvious challenges and uncertainties the COVID-19 pandemic presents, Loveland’s limitations on the use of indoor spaces and warming hut closures could present a significant safety issue for students.  You can view more details about Loveland’s operations here.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at dnewberg1@gilpin.k12.co.us.

Annual Student/Parent Required Acknowledgement/Sign-Off Forms

The 20/21 school year required student/parent handbooks and all other acknowledgment/sign-offs are available on the District Website and at this link.
