I want to give a special shout out to Student Council for all of their efforts in making our school great. They have been active members of the school community, helped to plan some wonderful events, and have been doing the morning announcements each day. Thank you, StuCo!!! With Winter Break coming up soon, I hope you and your family are able to spend some quality time together and that you have a wonderful holiday season.

Thank to our Girl Scout Troop, Joe Davis and Jacob Upchurch with our local VFW, Ms. Ebers and the MS and HS Band and Elementary Music students, the Student Council, our local veterans, and Misty Khachatrian, our Keynote Speaker, for their contributions to the Veterans Day Assembly.
The Girl Scouts, led by Rachel VanHoose and Cindy Upchurch, led the Presentation of Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance during our assembly. The MS and HS bands, led by Ms. Ebers, played a wonderful ensemble including a very special song Sempre Supra from the Space Force. Student Council planned and organized the decorations and order of events. Vinny Schoell, our Student Council president, was the Master of Ceremonies. Everyone involved did a fantastic job. We are very proud of our students and staff and very grateful to our Veterans for their service and sacrifice.
The VFW also presented three teachers with their Teacher of the Year award. Congratulations to Dawn Blake, Rachel Van Hoose, and Susan Sepanik for being named teachers of the year!

Students vs. Staff Volleyball |
Student Council organized a great event for our school on 11/25/25 before Thanksgiving Break. We had a volleyball tournament with middle and high school teams as well as a staff team. We played various rounds culminating in the best student team competing against the staff team. At the end of the final match, the staff team was victorious. Thank you to our Student Council and Volleyball players who helped to plan and organize the event. And thank you to everyone who participated and helped it run smoothly. Shout out to our referees, Jack Oliver and Landon Church!
The best student team who competed against the staff team included: Michael Ledbetter, Sayer Sirayanone, Amelia Bushey, Jack Fisher, Autyauna Church, and Riley Edwards.
Our staff team was: Dawn Blake, Josy Motchan, Seattle Schuessler, Topher Rouse, Kayla Carlson, Joe Wuchter, Sarah Swanson, and Sunny Vincent.

The November focus for the Student of the Month was GRATITUDE. Both of these students show exemplary gratitude in their day to day attitude.
In December, our focus will be on SERVICE.

Max shows gratitude towards his teachers and peers daily. His quiet, intelligent presence adds stability to our classrooms. Max always greets teachers at the beginning of class and always shows gratitude at the end of class, thanking teachers and saying "have a great day!" every period of every day. He is a consistent light in our classrooms.

Recently, Ellianah's family went on a week-long trip. After gathering her work and making sure she had what she needed, she repeatedly showed gratitude and thanked me for working with her. The same was true when she returned and needed some extra assistance with the assignments. She is a grateful, respectful student that makes teachers enjoy having her in our classrooms.

During October and November our students were encouraged to learn more about other cultures and communicate in Spanish sharing their own favorite experiences. MS students and 9th Graders learned about the Inca Empire and culture, they really appreciated learning about the Inca society. Our MS, 9th, and 11th Graders also worked on their favorite snack or food. Our 10th Graders worked on their favorite field trip or vacation. They showed creativity and shared their own experiences of life in Spanish. I love working with our Gilpin Eagles students and seeing their joy and happiness! - Ms. Josy

During MS Girls Basketball Blakeley has been a huge asset to our program. Her high energy and constant communication in practice does not go unnoticed. We emphasize the importance of early, positive, effective communication, and Blakeley takes this to heart and demonstrates this style of communication daily, on and off the court. A highlight of the season so far was the B team game against Belleview Christian on 11/18 where Blakeley forced multiple quick turnovers, resulting in fast break points for our team. Blakeley continues to improve every day, and is an irreplaceable member of our program.

In HS Girls Basketball, Cadi attended almost all basketball open gyms during the first two weeks of November coming right out of her volleyball season. She has had a great attitude and work ethic ever since. Our focus for the month of November has been Conditioning, Effort, and Foundation. Cadi has been working hard during practice, specifically in our conditioning drills to get herself in shape for basketball. This became very apparent in our scrimmage on Saturday, November 22. We played a JV and Varsity scrimmage with only 8 girls for both games. Cadi played almost every minute of both games with a press and fastbreak mindset. She stayed mentally tough throughout the entire scrimmage to maximize her time on the court and ensure that her teammates were supported. During our pre-season meeting, Cadi acknowledged that she really wanted to work on strengthening this season. She has improved greatly with her effort in the weight room, staying focused and working hard during our weight lifting time.
